York is a contemporary, student-friendly city, renowned for its rich history and heritage. With a population of 200,000, it’s a buzzing city that's small enough to cycle and walk around. York has been at the centre of the UK’s story throughout history. The city centre is surrounded by ancient walls, dating back to Roman times, and the Viking occupation of York is celebrated each year at the Jorvik Viking Festival.
