Criteria

  • Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA ≥ 3.00 from any recognized local/foreign universities
  • Research proposal must relate and relevant to the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2016 - 2025 priority areas
  • Below 45 years of age at the time of application
  • Secured offer letter of Master’s Degree by research admission at Taylor’s University
  • Applicable to candidates on full-time mode only
  • Minimum Publication Requirement: One (1) article accepted in Scopus and/or Clarivate Indexed journals before graduation.
  • An interview is required
  • The evaluation criteria include:

Highlights

  • Must submit one (1) article accepted in a journal indexed by SCOPUS database and/or International Scientific Indexing (ISI) journal within four (4) long semesters of admission
  • All scholarship recipients are expected to attend Research Skills Training and participate in thesis seminar sessions organised by the Centre for Higher Degrees by Research (CHDR).
  • Stipend recipients require maximum five (5) working hours per week  (Full-time student only) - duties can be in the form of leading tutorial session, conducting mini lectures, supervising undergraduate projects, laboratory class demonstration and / or any other assigned task deemed suitable by the School
  • Upon recipient successfully graduating, TU or any other institution under Taylor's Education Group shall be the 1st choice of employment for two(2) years unless the Faculty waives this employment right (Consent not to be unreasonably withheld)
  • Should recipients defer semester of intake the scholarship shall be revoked.

  • Monthly stipend of RM 1500 for a maximum of 24 months

*International Students - International Student Charge of RM 2800 (USD 800) and first year International Student Annual Fee of RM 1050 (US$ 300) are waived for both 

Details

ASEAN Tourism Scholarship is open for application by nationals from ASEAN member countries, to pursue postgraduate research studies (Master’s / PhD) on areas related/ relevant on ASEAN tourism. The research focus should be aligned to the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) priorities. 

Application

  • Scholarship application is accepted throughout the year. However, to allow sufficient time, apply at least one month prior to intake commencement for local students and three months prior to intake commencement for international students
  • If a student wishes to enroll into a programme prior to the approval of scholarship, the student requires to bear the fees for that particular semester.
  • To apply, consult with education counsellors to confirm on eligibility and availability of the scholarship
  • Submit all relevant supporting documents and/or testimonials, including the first page of every publication (if applicable) to the Enrolment and Advisory Services – Postgraduate (EAS-PG)
  • If shortlisted for interview, deliver a 15 minutes Power Point Presentation on the research proposal submitted to the Centre for Higher Degrees by Research (CHDR).  This will be followed by Q&A by a Panel of Evaluators
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview.
