Criteria

  1. Must have obtained straight passes in all courses (including co-curriculum courses for Diploma).

  2. Malaysian students. 

Highlights

  1. Only awarded once to students for any programme of study in the University College using the same entry qualification. For any reasons should students withdraw or are withdrawn by the college and choose to enrol back in this same programme or any other programmes will no longer be eligible to apply for the scholarship. 

  2. Scholarships is tenable for the duration of the programme of study but is subject to review on a semester basis. It may also be reviewed on an ad hoc basis.

  3. Scholars pursuing the Foundation programme and are still eligible for the merit scholarship in the final semester (Year 1, Semester 3) are required to pay the full fees for the final semester. The tuition fee paid for the Year 1, Semester 3 will be refunded based on the eligibility of the scholarship awarded on condition that they enrol into the University College Bachelor Degree programme within one year of successfully completing the Foundation programme and are still registered students when the refund is made from Week 8 onwards in Semester 1 of the Bachelor Degree programme.

  4. The TAR University College Merit Scholarship shall be withdrawn in the event that scholars:-

    • fail to obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.2500 for Foundation programmes in any semester during the duration of your study; OR

    • fail to obtain straight passes in all courses in every semester OR

    • fail to sit for any courses/subjects in the examination; OR

    • fail to have good conduct/are suspended/are found guilty of committing an offence and/or in breach of the University College’s student code of conduct and/or any regulations at any time during their duration of study; OR

    • are found to have behaved in such conducts, omissions or both that is deemed unbecoming of a TAR University College merit scholar.

  5. It is compulsory for scholars to be involved/participate in University College activities/events such as Open Day, Career Fair, promotional activities, convocation, seminar/conferences as and when required by the University College.

  6. The decision of the University College shall be final and conclusive. In such an event, all fees that are payable to the University College for the remaining duration of study must be paid by scholars by the payment due date specified by the University College.

Application

  1. Application must be made on prescribed application form, obtainable from the Department of Student Affairs.

  2. Application form and information pertaining to this scholarship can also be downloaded from the following sections in TAR UC Website: a. Financial Aid b. Centre of Pre-University Studies c. Centre of Postgraduate Studies and Research. 

  3. All completed forms with the required supporting documents must be submitted to TAR UC Department of Student Affairs before the stated closing date.

  4. Applicant must submit the results of the University admission application, the digital admission letter and the official University Admission Notice to TAR UC Department of Student Affairs within 5 working days from the dates of the above-stated documents or the application will be void.

  5. Shortlisted applicants shall be required to attend an interview.

  6. Successful applicant must confirm acceptance of the scholarship award within 1 week of offer, failing which the scholarship offer shall automatically lapse.

  7. TAR UC will notify the applicants regarding details of the interview via email and/or phone calls/message. The onus is on the applicant to check and confirm with TAR UC Department of Student Affairs regarding the details of the interview session.

  8. Late submission and/or incomplete application forms shall NOT be considered.
