Property Valuer

About

A property valuer develops professional opinion of value for real property.

Nature of the job

To succeed in this role, you need to have strong understanding on basic appraisal methodologies and procedures, as well as economic and market analysis. Your main responsibility is to appraise commercial, industrial or residential properties. It goes without saying that you need to keep yourself abreast with the local property market scene. You will be out inspecting and taking visuals of your assigned properties for the most part of your typical work day, so being physically fit is essential. Documentation is another very important aspect of the role, as these documents are often legal binding. So be sure to include all the data and visuals in a detailed and organised manner in the reports, as they will serve as the supporting basis to your appraisal.

Property valuers are usually employed by real estate companies, although there are also opportunities to work for banks or mortgage institutions. It is a fairly 9-5 job, work-life balance is achievable with this role.
