Nature of the jobIt is a highly demanding job, not just physically but also emotionally. You need to do some heavy lifting (read: patients) on an almost daily basis, so being physically fit is definitely an advantage. You need to be caring and compassionate in nature to care for the sick and to provide emotional support to the patients and their families. You need to be very observant of the patient’s conditions and report to the doctor at once if something is not right. You need to be able to work under pressing situations, when patients suddenly fall into critical conditions. It is not a glamorous job. You have to deal with terribly sick people most of the time and it involves various bodily fluid, not to mention the long working hours that can be stretched longer when there are emergency cases. But one cannot deny that it is possibly one of the most rewarding careers, not many of us save lives on a daily basis.
