Corporate Finance

About Corporate Finance

In corporate finance, you are responsible for managing various corporate finance and capital market transactions which include IPOs, M&As and fund raising exercises.

Nature of the job

Despite the glamorous lifestyle associated with investment banking, corporate finance can be a competitive industry to break into. You will be required to work long hours and perform under immense pressure. Professionals in this area may lament that the bonus and rewards were not as attractive as before. Slower market conditions may be challenging for those who are interested in this area as major deals are few and far between.

The role will be project-based and you will be able to be involved in a range of industries. More complex deals will require detailed knowledge of the business that your client is involved in. Being a people person is a plus as you will need to constantly liaise and coordinate with your clients, regulators, solicitors and auditors. You need to be a jack-of-all-trades as you will be responsible for performing financial analysis, develop corporate presentations and reports and draft and prepare contents of documents such as a prospectus, circular and announcements.
