Course Content
The Bachelor of Dementia Care requires the completion of 300 credit points comprising:
- 200 credit points of core units
- 100 credit points of electives units, or an optional major
Core units
Year 1 (Complete the following 6 core units plus 2 elective units)

- Introduction to Ageing, the Brain and Dementia
- Principles of Supportive Care for People With Dementia
- Health Services for an Ageing Population
- Introduction to Therapeutic Approaches for Dementia
- Effective Communication for Dementia Care
Year 2 (Complete the following 6 core units plus 2 elective units)
- The Neurobiology of Dementia
- Therapeutic Approaches for Dementia
- Principles of Palliative Care
- Nutrition, Dysphagia and Dementia
- Individual and Community Approaches to Dementia Prevention
- Dementia Policy and Care Coordination
Year 3 (Complete the following 4 core units plus 4 elective units)
- Qualitative Research in Aged and Dementia Care
- Advanced Topics in Dementia Care
- Translating Evidence into Dementia Care
- Dementia Friendly Societies
