Criteria

  • An interview is required

PhD

  • Bachelor's Degree with CGPA ≥ 3.33 and Master’s Degree (Coursework / Mixed mode) with CGPA ≥ 3.50 or by Research mode from any recognized local/foreign universities
  • Below 45 years of age at the time of application
  • Secured offer letter of PhD admission at Taylor’s University
  • An applicant with publication in Citation Indexed Journal (CIJ) will have an added advantage
  • Minimum Publication Requirement
    • One (1) article submitted by the end of semester four AND;
    • One (1) article accepted and one (1) under review in Scopus and/or Clarivate Indexed journals before graduation.

Highlights

PhD

  • Must have one (1) article submitted by the end of semester four
  • Must submit one (1) article accepted and one (1) under review in a journal indexed by SCOPUS database and / or International Scientific Indexing (ISI) journals by Graduation
  • All full-time scholarship recipients shall undergo Teaching Assistants Programme organised by TED / Intellect before proposal defence examination.
  • All scholarship recipients are expected to attend Research Skills Training and participate in thesis seminar sessions organised by the Centre for Higher Degrees by Research (CHDR).
  • Require maximum five (5) working hours per week  (Full-time student only) - duties can be in the form of leading tutorial session, conducting mini lectures, supervising undergraduate projects, laboratory class demonstration and / or any other assigned task deemed suitable by the School

  • 100% tuition fee waiver for a maximum of 36 months (Full-Time study)
  • Monthly stipend of RM 2,300 for a maximum of 36 months
  • Conference allowance of RM 3,000

All the other fees are covered except for enrolment and visa-related fees i.e. for International Students

Details

Students interested in pursuing their Master’s / PhD’s studies at Taylor’s University in any of our postgraduate research programmes may apply for the Postgraduate Scholarship. This award is offered to support research in all areas of studies in the University and to instill excellent values amongst postgraduate students academically and socially. Award recipients are expected to devote their efforts to research and publishing articles as well as participating in University events and activities and getting engaged in various non-academic activities like community activism, charity work or educational services.

Application

  • Scholarship application is accepted throughout the year. However, to allow sufficient time, apply at least one month prior to intake commencement for local students and three months prior to intake commencement for international students
  • If a student wishes to enroll into a programme prior to the approval of scholarship, the student requires to bear the fees for that particular semester.
  • To apply, consult with education counsellors to confirm on eligibility and availability of the scholarship
  • Complete “HIGHER DEGREES BY RESEARCH FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION FORM” and the Research Proposal Template attached to the form
  • Submit all relevant supporting documents and/or testimonials, including the first page of every publication (if applicable) to the Enrolment and Advisory Services – Postgraduate (EAS-PG)
  • If shortlisted for interview, deliver a 15 minutes Power Point Presentation on the research proposal submitted to the Centre for Higher Degrees by Research (CHDR).  This will be followed by Q&A by a Panel of Evaluators
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview.
