Course Content
Phase l – Pre-requisite coursework
Two core courses (6 credit hours)
- Research Methodology
- Statistics
(Only for students who do not have sufficient knowledge or background on research methodology and statistics)
Phase ll – Comprehensive Examination
All PhD students are required to take a comprehensive examination in their respective areas of study on completion of the required coursework (if applicable). Only on passing of the comprehensive examination will students be allowed to commerce with their research. Each student is only allowed two attempts to pass his/her comprehensive examination.
Students exempted from coursework are to proceed with their research proposal for submission.
Phase lll – Proposal Defence
Each student must publicly present and defend his/her research proposal. The student is only allowed to continue with his/her research to Phase IV on passing of the defence of his/her proposal.
Phase lV – Thesis Preparation
The student proceeds to his/her data collection, data analysis and report writing.
Phase V – Viva Voce
After completion and submission of the thesis, the student is required to attend a Viva Voce to orally defend his/her thesis.
