This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for eligible international students
International Excellence Scholarship is awarded to overseas students who have demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University.

Requirements
- Applicants must be classed as overseas fee payers.
- Applicants must have applied for and received an offer to study at Swansea University (Singleton Park Campus and Bay Campus) on a course starting in the academic year 2026/27 at Undergraduate or Master’s level.
- Students studying for a PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, MRes, Graduate Diploma in Law, Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate, Go Global Visiting, Exchange or Erasmus Mundus programme are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Students studying Taught Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate programmes of study with course fees of GBP 16,000 or above per year are eligible to apply.
- Students who will undertake part-time study are not eligible to apply.
- Students studying at or progressing from ‘The College Swansea University’ are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Students studying at Swansea University through the Trent-Swansea partnership are not eligible to apply.
- Students whose course fees are lower than GBP 16,000 per year are not eligible to apply.
- Students progressing from Undergraduate to Postgraduate Taught programmes are eligible to apply.
- Alumni are eligible to apply. Other terms and conditions apply with regards to other awards open to alumni, which may result in an award not being made in the full amount, or at all.
- Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in their academic performance to date and be able to show what they will achieve at Swansea University in their application.
- Applicants must be self-funded.

- If the fee status (oversea) of the applicant changes after the scholarship application is made, then the University will need to remove the scholarship.
- The combined scholarship amounts cannot exceed £7,000, therefore IRO will not make an award in addition to any other University award, which will amount to more than this.
- Scholarship holders, having accepted an award, are reasonably expected to co-operate in Swansea University recruitment activities and automatically agree to their names and details being released by the University’s International Recruitment and Operations department for marketing purposes.
- If, in the view of the appropriate Head of School, a Scholarship holder’s progress is deemed to be unsatisfactory, the Scholarship may be withdrawn.

Awards Details
- Undergraduate: Fee waiver of GBP 5,000 in their first year of study. Students who achieve 70% and above in their first year of study will be eligible for a further GBP 2,000 in their second year of study. This includes students who transfer and join the second year of an Undergraduate degree at Swansea.
- Postgraduate Taught: Fee waiver is GBP 5,000 for the first year only. Two-year masters with industry are not eligible for any scholarship in their industry year.
