Applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Every eligible applicant must indicate in their application for study, through the student management system (eVision), that they would like to be considered for international scholarships at the University of Otago
  • Nominated countries are :
    • Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
  • Selection of recipients will be based upon consideration of the following factors:
    • Academic potential;
    • Applicants must be enrolling in full-time undergraduate degree-level study; or in an approved foundation diploma programme, with the objective of progressing into an undergraduate degree;
    • Applicants must be intending to study at the University of Otago from 100-level (first year) through to degree attainment;
    • Applicants will be applying either to study at the University of Otago from a nominated country, and/or to be undertaking a specified programme of study at Otago;
    • Applicants will be studying on campus throughout the duration of their studies.
  • Students sponsored by their home Government, or the New Zealand Government are not eligible for this scholarship.

Awards Details

  • The value of the scholarship is $15,000 with a one-year tenure.
  • Payment of the scholarship will be made as a credit towards tuition fees only.
  • For those commencing study in semester 2 (July), half the scholarship funds ($7,500) will be released as a credit towards tuition fees, with the other half being released in semester 1 (February) of the following year.
