This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for PhD in economics students.
The PhD Departmental Studentship is a funded award for students joining the Integrated PhD in Economics at the University of York.

Requirements
- Open to students from Integrated PhD in Economics only.
- Open to International (including EU), International (non-EU) and UK (home) students.
- You must have applied online for a place on the integrated PhD in Economics before applying for the scholarship.
- We will only consider candidates who already have an offer of a place to study with us for September 2026, or whose applications have already been reviewed and deemed likely to merit an offer.
- Therefore you should aim to submit your online PhD application in advance of the studentship deadline.
- Submit the online student application form by 5.00pm BST on Tuesday 31 March 2026.
- The awards are allocated purely on the basis of academic merit, taking into account the quality of the research proposal, past academic transcripts, and references.

- Tuition fee waiver of GBP 5,238 and an annual stipend at the standard research council rate GBP 20,780
- The studentship covers the four-year period of the integrated PhD in Economics programme. However, years 2-4 of the studentship will be conditional on successful completion of the 1st year.
