This scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver for selected postgraduate taught students.
The Maria Bourboulis International Masters Scholarship provides one award for an international student undertaking a Master’s degree in the Department of Sociology at the University of York.

Requirements
- Open to International (including EU) and International (non-EU) students.
- Apply for a place on a full-time Masters course with the Department of Sociology
- Begin your Masters studies in September 2026 (it is not possible to defer a scholarship offer)
- Have or expect to obtain a first or upper second-class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the Masters programme
- Preference will be given to a Greek student - as per Maria's wishes - but the scholarship is open to all International students.
- Application deadline: Tuesday 30 June 2026, 4pm BST

Continued receipt of all scholarship is conditional upon satisfactory academic progress. Scholarship holders should notify their Department in the following circumstances:
- You take leave of absence
- You change your programme of study
- Your registration changes, e.g. full time to part time
- You withdraw from your programme
