  • Highfield is our oldest and largest campus, located close to Southampton Common. It's the academic heart of our University and home to social events, sports facilities and our Students' Union.

Undergraduate

Requirements

Applicant must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • Need to pay the overseas tuition fee
  • Have a conditional or unconditional offer to study an eligible course
  • Provide evidence of where you live and qualifications at enrolment
  • Enrol as a full-time student by the start date and starting in Year 1 of an eligible course
  • Not have more than one scholarship from the University of Southampton - if you are eligible for multiple scholarships, you will get the scholarship with the highest value.
  • Merit scholarships for international undergraduate students are awarded based on standard academic programme eligibility criteria as displayed on individual course pages. For instance:
    • If you need A, A and B in your A levels and you get A*, A and A, you will get GBP 1,000 towards your first year tuition fees.

These scholarships are not available to students studying:

  • PGCert, PGDip, Foundation or PGR courses
  • Distance Learning courses
  • with a partner institution
  • at UoS Malaysia campus
  • on continuing professional development (CPD) courses
  • only pre-sessional English - pre-sessional English students with an offer to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level can still apply

Awards Details

Fee waiver details are as follows:

  • University of Southampton Business School: GBP 1,500 for each A* grade above the standard course Up to GBP 4,500.
    • For example: If you need A, A and B in your A levels and you get A*, A and A, you will get £1,500 towards your first-year tuition fees.
  • Chemistry, Economic, Social and Political Science, Education or Maths: GBP 1,000 for each A or A* grade (up to a maximum of GBP 3,000) above the standard offer for course:
    • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
    • Economic, Social and Political Sciences
    • Southampton Education School
    • School of Mathematical Sciences
  • Law or Physics and Astronomy: GBP 1,000 for each A* grade (Up to GBP 3,000) above the standard offer for courses run by:
    • Southampton Law School
    • Physics and Astronomy
  • Health Sciences - GBP 1,000 for each A or A* grade (up to a maximum of GBP 3,000) for the following course:
    • BSc Midwifery
    • MNurs Nursing (Adult and Child)
    • MNurs Nursing (Adult and Mental Health)
    • BSc Nursing (Adult)
    • MNurs Nursing (Child and Mental Health)
    • BSc Nursing (Child)
    • BSc Nursing (Mental Health)
  • All other schools: GBP 1,000 for each A or A* (Up to GBP 3,000 GBP)
  • All other schools: Biological Science, Geography and Environmental Science, Ocean and Earth Science & Psychology
