This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for eligible students
This scholarship is awarded to international students from selected countries enrolling in Postgraduate programme at University of Essex
Requirements
Requirements
- Be overseas fee payers and
- Be entirely self-funded, and;
- Be ordinarily resident in one of the countries specified in the below, and;
- Have an undergraduate degree (or Masters degree) awarded by an institution based in one of the countries listed in the table below, or an undergraduate degree awarded by an institution based in the UK, and:
- Have met the academic requirement for that country, for Malaysia, students must have achieved a UK 2:2 or CGPA 2.70/4.0
- Students must register at the University of Essex in October 2026 or January 2027 for the first year of a full-time or part-time Masters course in academic year 2026-27 only, leading to the degree of: MA, MFA, MSc, LLM, MPP, MBM, MRes, MBA
- If you obtained a degree from a country in the list below but are not an ordinary resident of a country
listed below, you will not be eligible for this award. Refer below for the list of countries eligible for this scholarship:
- Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK, Uruguay, USA, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam & All other member states of the African Union

- Fee waiver of GBP 5,000 for first year of study only
- This scholarship is available for the first year of taught Masters study only or the first two years of part-time study (split equally) for students starting in academic year 2026-27 only.
The following students are NOT eligible for the Global Talent Masters Scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:
- Students who are fully or partly sponsored.
- Students studying:
- Students studying University of Essex Online courses, delivered in partnership with Kaplan Open Learning.
- A course below Masters level at the University of Essex: including, but not limited to, Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Postgraduate Certificates, and Postgraduate Diplomas.
- Students studying courses that are classed as research degrees: including, but not limited to, MPhil, MAD, MSD.
- Students who hold a Masters degree from the UK.
- Students awarded the scholarship who defer entry to following academic years will not be eligible to receive the award and will be considered in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry.
- The award may be held in conjunction with the Early Bird Discount and cannot be held in conjunction with any other University of Essex scholarships.
- Students who are joining Essex through a University Transfer Link Agreement which includes a discounted fee or eligible for a Partner/Stakeholder Scholarship. In this case, where a student is also eligible for this award, we will apply the award which is greater in value.
- University of Essex International College (UEIC) Pathway students.
- Current students whose first year of Postgraduate study at the University of Essex was prior to academic year 2026-27.
- Students transferring from another higher education institution including those transferring under a transfer link agreement.
