This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for postgraduate taught international and home students
The Herringham Scholarship is a highly prestigious, merit-based postgraduate financial award offered by the Department of History to recognize exceptional academic excellence and support talented students pursuing specialized MA programmes at Royal Holloway.

- Offer to study one of the following courses:
- MA History
- MA History: Crusader Studies
- MA History: Hellenic Studies
- MA Holocaust Studies
- MA Late Antique and Byzantine Studies
- Achieved, or expected to achieve, a First Class Honours degree or equivalent
- The deadline to apply for this scholarship is 11.59pm (UK time) on Monday 15 June.
- You may not hold any other Royal Holloway tuition fee scholarship or discount alongside this scholarship. For example, this includes the Royal Holloway and University of London Alumni discounts.
- Not be in receipt of external fee funding that equals the full sum of the tuition fee. If part-funded, a scholar will be able to hold a Royal Holloway scholarship along with external fee funding if the value of both awards combined does not exceed the recipient’s tuition-fee liability.
- You must provide a supporting statement of no longer than 500 words, which should include:
- Academic achievements you are particularly proud of
- Why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for
- How you will use the MA in your future research and career path, and how the scholarship will help you achieve it
- Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.
- An academic reference letter (up to 200 words) must be provided from an academic who has previously taught, supported, or worked with you, and must be emailed on official headed paper
- The deadline to apply for this scholarship is 11.59pm (UK time) on Monday 15 June.

- Scholars may be asked to participate in promotional activities, interviews, photography, or filming, with prior consent requested
- Scholars may be asked to produce a student profile for Royal Holloway marketing materials
- Donor-funded scholarship recipients may need to write thank-you letters, provide updates, meet donors, and agree to share final classifications
- If a student changes course or mode of study, their scholarship eligibility will be reviewed and may be withdrawn
- The scholarship offer will be withdrawn if a student does not successfully progress to the next year of study at any point during a multi-year scholarship
