This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for undergraduate home and international students

The School of Law provides merit-based scholarships for students enrolled in the LLB and Senior Status LLB programmes.

How to qualify

Requirements

  • Those applying for a Second or Final Year Scholarship must not have received a School of Law scholarship in a previous academic year.
  • Applicants will be assessed based on their application statement and prior academic achievement
    • First Year Scholarship applicants and students applying in the first year of their Senior Status will be judged on their potential, based on their academic achievement prior to Queen Mary University of London
    • Second Year Scholarship applicants and students applying in the second year of their Senior Status are required to have achieved an average of at least 2:2 grade (50–59%) in their first year
    • Final Year Scholarship applicants are required to have achieved an average of at least 2:1 grade (60–69%) in their second year
  • Applicants in the second or final year of their LLB must have a satisfactory attendance record of at least 90%
  • Applicants will be required to write a 350-word statement about how they have or will contribute to the School of Law
  • The deadline to apply is 23:59 on Sunday 18 January 2026.

Highlights

  • Recipients of these scholarships are entitled to apply to renew their scholarship in their subsequent years of study, provided they have fulfilled the renewal criteria:
  • All first-year modules passed with an overall average 2:2 grade (50–59%) and all second-year modules passed with an overall average 2:1 grade (60–69%)
  • An attendance record of 90% or above
  • Award winners will be invited to make at least THREE voluntary contributions to the School of Law throughout the academic year, with at least one being made per semester. This schould include volunteering at one Open Day and one Prospective Student Offer Holder Day per year.
  • The third contribution can include, but is not limited to, the following examples:
    • Blogging for the marketing team or covering a law event for the School website
    • Admissions contribution, including writing a paragraph on the award for the website, completing a student profile, and/or providing a quote for the undergraduate prospectus
    • Becoming a Pathways to Law Ambassador and taking part in the online mentoring scheme for Pathways to Law students
    • Becoming a Social Media Ambassador and making regular contributions on social media platforms

Awards Details

  • Fee waiver of GBP 1,000
  • Recipients on their study abroad year may not be eligible for renewal if they are receiving additional funding such as from the Turing Scheme. Recipients who have interrupted their studies will not be eligible to apply for the renewal until they return to study.
  • Students who take the LLB Law in Practice will not be eligible to renew the scholarship during their third year in industry, as this is a paid internship.
