This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for postgraduate international applicants
Newcastle University offers a number of scholarship awards each year to assist high calibre international students to study for a postgraduate Master’s/MRes degree.

Requirements
To be considered for scholarships applicants must:
- Be assessed as international for fee purposes
- Hold an offer for an eligible Master’s degree programme at the Newcastle city centre campus for the 2026/27 academic year
- Already have or expect to receive the equivalent of an upper second-class UK honours degree or above
- Eligible candidates will be assessed according to evidence of academic ability, evidence of commitment to studies, and quality of application
- An applicant can only apply and be considered for a scholarship after they have been offered a place to study on their chosen eligible full-time Master’s/MRes course at the Newcastle city centre campus for the 2026/27 academic year and have been assessed as international for fees purposes
- Fully sponsored students do not qualify for these awards
- The closing dates for applications are: 26th May 2026

- Scholarships will be renewable annually, subject to academic progression
- Applicants initially assessed as international for fee purposes but whose fees change to “home” either before they commence their degree or during their degree are not eligible for Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship awards and any offer will be withdrawn
- Successful applicants must inform the University if they are awarded any scholarships or sponsorships that cover full tuition fees
- Applicants should check the scholarship offer email for any additional conditions attached to the scholarship offer
- Successful candidates will be expected to work with the international recruitment team as student ambassadors during their studies to help inform prospective students about Newcastle University
- Ambassador activities may include attending physical or virtual presentations, providing testimonials, vlogs, blogs, or promoting the scholarship programme
- Time commitment for ambassador activities should not typically exceed 8 hours per semester
- Details of successful scholarship recipients may be passed to Newcastle University Advancement Teams who may contact students after graduation

The following are not eligible to apply for awards;
- MPhil, MLitt, Doctoral (e.g. PhD, Integrated PhD, DClinPsych) applicants
- Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma applicants
- Online (E-learning) degree programme applicants
- Applicants for the MClinDent Endodontics, MClinDent Periodontics, MClinDent Prosthodontics, MSc Industrial and Commercial Biotechnology (FT), and MSc Drug Chemistry (FT)
- Current students registered at the University who have already commenced their postgraduate degree at the time of the award; awards cannot be made retrospectively
- Students repeating courses
- Study abroad and exchange students
- Students starting their degree in January of the academic year
- Students funded through partnerships between the University and external organisations such as Universitas Indonesia, CONACYT, COLFUTURO, and Foundation BECA
