This scholarship is to attract new international students of high calibre from ASEAN countries
University of Auckland awards fee waiver to students from ASEAN countries to enrol full-time in undergraduate or postgraduate of one year or more.

Applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an international student from these ASEAN countries :
- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam
- either a new student who has received a conditional or unconditional offer of admission, or an English Language Academy (ELA) student who has received a conditional or unconditional offer of admission, or a student enrolled, or enrolling, in the Summer Start International programme who has received a conditional or unconditional offer of admission
- students who have undertaken any tertiary level study in New Zealand, excluding a student exchange programme; or students enrolling in a Business masters programme in the Graduate School of Management (GSM), excluding the Master of Applied Finance, the Master of Business Analytics, and the Master of Supply Chain Management, are not eligible to apply for this Scholarship
- Students must be enrolled as “on Campus” registrations. For the avoidance of doubt, students enrolling as distance education students (including University of Auckland Online) in any other programme will not be eligible to apply
- The basis of selection will be academic merit, the quality of the letter of application and endorsement by the applicant’s referee

- As a condition of tenure, awardees will be required to enrol full-time for at least two semesters of study at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland
- Awardees who take up this Scholarship but who do not complete at least two semesters of study at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland or who withdraw their enrolment in any semester after payment has been made, will normally be required to pay back the full sum of monies received

Awards Details
- The scholarship may be held concurrently with any other scholarship, grant or award as long as the regulations for that scholarship, award or grant permit and the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.
- Up to 30 Scholarships will be awarded annually and will comprise a contribution towards compulsory tuition fees of up to $10,000 each
- To be paid the Scholarship, awardees must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree, a PGDip or masters programme.
- The Scholarship will be paid as a credit towards compulsory tuition fees in the first semester of study at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland as soon as is practical after confirmation of the awardee’s enrolment
