The Tun Dr Hasmah Mohd Ali Scholarship for Creative Arts & Music is awarded to students pursuing Sunway University’s music programmes
Requirements
Requirements
- Full-time student enrolled in Sunway University’s music programmes:
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Contemporary Music (Audio Technology)
- Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Music Performance
- Diploma in Music
- Candidate with relevant background as below may apply:
- Music background (minimum Grade 8 or equivalent) that falls under these categories:
- String Instruments (piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass etc)
- Wind Instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone etc)
- Brass Instruments (trumpet, trombone, horn, tuba etc)
- Percussion Instruments (timpani, xylophone, marimba etc)
- Voice
- Contemporary music
- Music background (minimum Grade 8 or equivalent) that falls under these categories:
- Candidate’s performing ability
- Candidate must have a proven record of community service

- The schedule of general fees must be paid as and when required, in accordance to Sunway University/ Sunway College’s policy on enrolment and fees.
- Recipients are not eligible for the scholarship for subsequent programmes with the same academic qualification.
- Accepting any other scholarship (of any amount) will result in automatic termination of this scholarship.
- All scholars are automatically members of Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA).
- Scholars are encouraged to follow SSA social media and participate in activities.
- Sunway University / Sunway College reserves the right to involve recipients in interviews, advertisements, photography, and other publicity-related activities.
- A recipient who applies for the programme Transfer may retain his/ her scholarship provided that the new programme does not extend the duration of the scholarship.
- It is compulsory for the recipient to perform minimum of 6 scheduled performances a year with music groups or as soloists in events organized by the School of Arts, to include the possibility of special events for the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation.
- Recipients are required to reapply for the continuation of scholarship on a yearly basis
- The continuity is reviewed subject to meeting the terms set by the institution:
- Recipient must maintain an overall average of CGPA 3.00 in academic grades
- Recipient must demonstrate leadership in the assigned ensemble(s)
- Recipient must exhibit yearly progress in performance, as evaluated by music lecturers in the School of Arts
