How to qualify

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following minimum criteria:
  • For Foundation/Diploma programmes:
    • SPM/IGCSE: min. 3As
    • UEC: max.12 points (3 best subjects)
  • For Degree programmes:
    • STPM/Foundation/Diploma = CGPA 3.50
    • UEC: max.16 points (5 best subjects)
Things you should be aware of

Highlights

  • The scholarship holder is required to achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.25 every semester to maintain the scholarship. Failure to do so will result in the scholarship being withdrawn. No appeal is allowed.
  • For Foundation or Diploma holders pursuing HCUC Bachelor’s Degree, the scholarship quantum awarded is strictly based on the final CGPA obtained from Foundation or Diploma qualification. No appeal is allowed.
  • The scholarship holder is required to contribute service hours every semester. The number of hours varies based on the scholarship quantum. Refer to the details below.
  • Contribution Hours (Per Semester):
    • 20% to 50%: 15 hours
    • 60% to 90%: 20 hours
    • 100%: 25 hours
  • Applicants are allowed to apply for one Scholarship/Bursary only.
  • Forecast/trial examination results or actual SPM results are accepted for the Scholarship/Bursary application. However, the forecast/trial examination results are only applicable for those who submit their enrollment application before the official SPM results are released, and the Scholarship/Bursary Awards quantum is only based on one of the better performing results.
  • Scholarship/Bursary Award offered will be automatically withdrawn and voided if the holder does not accept the award by the given deadline in the letter of offer.
  • Scholarship and Bursary holders need to provide testimonials, attend interviews and any other publicity-related activities which include Scholarship and Bursary Awards Presentation Ceremony when requested to.
  • Failure to complete one’s study due to any of the above reasons would result in repayment of the Scholarship/Bursary awarded by the Han Chiang Education Fund.
  • Scholarship and Bursary Awards are only applicable for the programme applied. In case of programme transfer, the Scholarship/Bursary awarded will be withdrawn and the student needs to reapply before the stipulated deadline.
  • Scholarship and Bursary Awards are not applicable for any of the Dual Award Programmes.

Han Chiang University College Of Communication (HCUC) is a non-profit institution of higher learning that offers quality education at affordable fees; it was established in 1999 and has become a renowned College in the country catering to the educational needs of local and international students

HCUC originated from the journalism programme offered by Han Chiang High School through its post-secondary education back in 1978.

The programme successfully produced a good number of journalists for the media industry.; from then onwards, the College has expanded its horizons and dived into other disciplines such as Mass Communication, Business Management, Information Technology, Chinese Studies and Multimedia -Han Chiang College received a formal invitation from the Ministry of Education Malaysia (now Ministry of Higher Education – MoHE) to be upgraded to a University College in 2014
