Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship is awarded to exceptional international students pursuing coursework studies at the University of Sydney

How to qualify

Requirements

  • Must be an international student
  • Must have applied for but not yet commenced a bachelor’s degree or a coursework master’s degree that is a CRICOS registered award program usually delivered onshore at the University of Sydney
  • Must receive an unconditional offer of admission by the relevant close date.
  • Recipients of scholarships provided by the Australian Government are not eligible.
Things you should be aware of

Highlights

  • If you received a VCIS that is split into two payments the recipient, must maintain a minimum semester average mark (SAM) of 65 and have no outstanding fees in order to receive their next payment.
  • The recipient undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.
  • The Scholarship is transferable to another major, degree or faculty but is not transferrable to another University.
  • Deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances.
  • Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled as well as represent the University of Sydney at student orientation, marketing events and in marketing materials and at corporate networking events.

Awards Details

  • Five scholarship amounts are offered based on ranking against selection criteria (to be selected by University of Sydney):
    • AUD $60,000 payable for one year in two equal instalments per semester
    • AUD $40,000 payable for one year in two equal instalments per semester
    • AUD $20,000 payable for one semester
    • AUD $10,000 payable for one semester
    • AUD $5,000 payable for one semester
  • Students who receive a Sydney International Student Award can only receive a VCIS to the maximum value of $40,000.
