Full scholarship for outstanding postgraduate students

The Khazanah-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Merdeka Scholarship was established to commemorate the 50th year of Malaysia’s independence. These awards allow exceptional Malaysian students to pursue postgraduate degrees at the University of Oxford. Candidates can choose from a wide range of fields.

The scholarship is offered at two entry levels:

  • Master's degree studies at the University of Oxford.
  • Doctoral (PhD) studies at the University of Oxford.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Possess strong leadership skills and active participation in extra-curricular, social or voluntary activities
  • Applicants must have a consistent and outstanding academic achievement record as follows:

Master's Degree

  • Obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper Division (UK and Australia University) or where there is a point system, obtained a minimum CGPA of 3.50 for Bachelor's Degree.
  • The applicant must demonstrate a genuine interest in studying at the University of Oxford and should aim to secure a place at the university for 2024/25 entrance.
  • In the event that no offer of admission from the university is received, please be aware that the scholarship offer will become null and void.
  • Not exceeding 40 years of age as at the enrolment date for the Master's programme.

PhD

  • Obtained a distinction or 'A' grade average or equivalent (if there is a point systems) for Master's Degree.
  • The applicant must demonstrate a genuine interest in studying at the University of Oxford and should aim to secure a place at the university for 2025/26 entrance.
  • In the event that no offer of admission from the university is received, please be aware that the scholarship offer will become null and void.
  • Not exceeding 40 years as at the enrolment date for the Doctorate programme.
  • To provide research outline / thesis summary on the topic they intend to pursue in the Doctorate programme.
