Criteria

  1. Applicant must be between 17 to 25 years old
  2. Applicant can be a Malaysian or an International citizen
  3. Applicant must not have gone through or currently taking any formal culinary course(s) at Sunway University or other institutions
  4. Applicant must meet the minimum entry requirement of the Diploma in Culinary Arts programme
    • SPM/SPMV/O-Level: pass with minimum 3 credits
    • UEC: Pass with minimum 3 Grade Bs
    • English Language Requirement: Sunway Intensive English Programme (IEP) Level 3 or IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
    • Other qualifications: any other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis

Highlights

  • Scholars are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress results throughout the duration of the study.
  • Scholars are required to submit a copy of the academic progress report to Student LIFE upon the release of results at the end of every semester.
  • Scholars are required to participate in the following activities:
    • Becoming an active member of the Sunway Student Ambassadors/ Sunway Student Volunteer
    • Assisting and providing support in 3 institution-wide event/ activities

Details

Full scholarship for deserving students, who is studying Diploma in Culinary Arts - with progression to BSc (Hons) in Culinary Management (subject to terms & conditions)

Application

  • Application Deadline : 7th March 2025 and 8th August 2025
  • The shortlisting for the Sunway University Young Chef Cook-Off shall be based on the submission of an essay titled (200 words or less): “Why should I be selected as a Sunway University Young Chef?”
  • The essay must be submitted together with the Application Form
  • All shortlisted applicants must attend the Young Chef Cook-Off session assessed by a Panel of Judges from Sunway University
