Criteria

  • Malaysian student
  • In general good health and condition
  • Neither parents are in the JPA blacklist and are not subjected to any legal actions by JPA
  • Not a recipient of any other financial sponsorship for studies
  • First-time SPM candidates, who have just undertaken the most recent SPM examination
  • Below 19 year-old in the year of the SPM examination
  • Scored at least A+ in 9 subjects i.e. including Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Sejarah, Matematik Tambahan, Fizik, Kimia and Pendidikan Islam / Pendidikan Al-Quran Dan As-Sunnah / Pendidikan Syariah Islamiah / Pendidikan Moral. 
  • Scored at least A- for any remaining subjects.

Highlights

  • This scholarship is in our list of top 10 full malaysian scholarships to study overseas.
  • JPA sponsorship i.e. all the study expenses, is actually provided in the form of a study loan (pinjaman boleh ubah) that student would have to repay upon graduation. The loan may be converted to a full/partial scholarship, depending on the recipient's employer upon graduation:
    • 0% loan repayment (full scholarship) if recipient is employed under civil service (Perkhidmatan Awam)
    • 25% loan repayment if recipient is employed under a GLC (government-linked corporation)
    • 50% loan repayment if recipient is employed by a private company in Malaysia

Details

This is an opportunity for all recent SPM candidates to receive financial sponsorship by JPA (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) in the form of Convertible Loan (Pinjaman Boleh Ubah) to pursue their studies in top 10-ranked universities in the United States (US) or United Kingdom (UK) for the selected field as recognised and listed by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings and/or Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Application is open to students who have recently completed their SPM examination and would like to further their studies in the field of engineering, science & technology, social science and creative arts. Recipients will be sponsored to undertake A-Level in Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) before continuing their undergraduate degree studies in UK/US.

  • Please check out JPA website (https://esilav2.jpa.gov.my/) for the online application submission, which is only open from 12 - 23 June 2023.
  • Applicants would need to check if they are shortlisted for further assessment and when the interview appointment is set.
  • Shortlisted candidates would then undergo an interview plus student assessment.
