This scholarship provides tuition fee waiver for postgraduate international students
Newcastle University offers a large number of partial scholarship awards each year to assist international students with good qualifications to study for a postgraduate Master’s degree.

- To be considered for awards, applicants must have been offered a place to study on their chosen Master’s degree programme at the Newcastle city centre campus for the 2026/27 academic year; excludes Malaysia and Singapore campuses; only September 2026 start programmes are eligible
- Eligible applicants will be considered automatically for awards
- Postgraduate applicants must be assessed as international for fee purposes
- Successful applicants will be selected on merit and allocation of scholarships will be based on the University’s strategic and diversity priorities, which may change over time; awards may be allocated early so early applications are encouraged
- To receive awards, applicants must become registered students at Newcastle University in the 2026/27 academic year for a full-time Master’s degree programme; awards cannot be deferred
- Applicants domiciled in the listed countries/regions will be considered for Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship awards: Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe
- To be considered domiciled in these countries, applicants must have predominantly resided there during the last three years
- Fully sponsored students do not qualify; full sponsorship covers full tuition fees before any scholarships are deducted

- Successful applicants cannot be in receipt a Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship award AND an award from any scholarship schemes operated by the University.
- Applicants initially assessed as international for fee purposes but whose fees change to “home” either before they commence their degree or during their degree, are not eligible to receive Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship awards and will have any offer made withdrawn.
- Successful candidates will be expected to work with the international recruitment team from time to time to serve as a student ambassador for the University during their period of study to help inform prospective students about study at Newcastle University. This may involve such activities as: attending physical or virtual presentations for prospective students; providing written or filmed testimonials/ vlogs and blogs for the University’s website; or serving as an advocate to help promote the scholarship programme.
- Details of successful scholarship recipients will be passed to Newcastle University Advancement Teams who may contact students following graduation.
- Scholarships are renewable annually and will be subject to academic progression.

The following applicants are not eligible to receive Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship awards:
- Pathway students progressing to the University from INTO
- MPhil, doctoral (PhD, Integrated PhD, EngD, DClinPych), Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, online (e-learning) degree programme applicants
- Current, registered students at the University who have already commenced their postgraduate degree at the time of the award; awards cannot be made retrospectively
- Students repeating courses
- Students applying for the two-year Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) and MSc Advanced Architectural Design courses
- Students studying Distance Learning courses (e.g. LLM Mediation and International Commercial Dispute Resolution)
- Applicants applying for the MSc Industrial and Commercial Biotechnology (FT) and the MSc Drug Chemistry (FT)
- Applicants funded through partnerships between the University and external organisations
