This scholarship is awarded to students at University of Canterbury
The scholarship supports postgraduate and first-year undergraduate students at the University of Canterbury.

Applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Candidates for Category A scholarships must:
- have completed or be completing a university entrance qualification; and
- have been studying at secondary level in the year of application (or, in the case of a gap year, in the year immediately prior).
- Category B scholarships are tenable during full-time study at the University in:
- the final year of a programme for an Honours degree; or
- any year of a programme for a postgraduate degree or a postgraduate diploma
- In making its recommendations the selection committee will consider:
- academic achievement;
- involvement in sporting, cultural and/or community activities; and
- affinity with the objectives of the University of Canterbury Alumni South Island Chapter, as demonstrated in a brief statement required as part of the application.

- Continuation of a scholarship is conditional on satisfactory academic engagement and adherence to the University’s statutes and regulations
- By accepting the award, recipients:
- permit publication and announcement of their acceptance;
- permit publication of background information (provided by the recipient) and/or a photograph;
- agree to be reasonably available for promotional activity relating to the scholarship, including attendance at the presentation of the award at the Annual General Meeting of the University of Canterbury Alumni South Island Chapter, and reporting on his or her studies to a subsequent Annual General Meeting or similar meeting of the Chapter during the tenure of the scholarship.

- One time fee waiver of NZD $5,000
- If tuition fees are payable by the recipient, the scholarship is paid to the recipient’s tuition fees account.
- If tuition fees are not payable by the recipient, the scholarship is paid in two equal instalments, by direct credit to a recipient’s nominated New Zealand bank account as soon as practicable after :-
- the final dates, in the recipient’s first and second semesters of study, on which a student may receive a full refund for withdrawal from a course; and
- confirmation of full-time enrolment in a programme of study as specified
