Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was established on 18 May 1970 to promote higher education using the Malay language, reflecting Malaysia’s national identity and aspirations. It began in Kuala Lumpur with three faculties and a small number of students.
UKM has since grown into a major public research university with its main campus in Bangi and other campuses in Kuala Lumpur. It now has many faculties and research institutes, contributing to education, research, and national development.
Today, UKM focuses on academic excellence, research, and innovation while expanding its global presence. It continues to play an important role in addressing societal challenges and remains a symbol of national pride.

- Getting here: Public transport via KTM Komuter to UKM KTM Station (short shuttle or e-hailing ride to campus); taxi or e-hailing from Bandar Baru Bangi (about 10–15 minutes); accessible by car via the North–South Expressway and Kajang–Seremban Highway with exits to Bangi.
- Faculties: Home to 8 main faculties at the Bangi campus, including the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Islamic Studies, and Faculty of Law.
