Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) was founded as a private educational institution in January 1983 by the Methodist Council of Education.
MCKL initially offered secondary classes (Forms 1 - 5), Sixth Form and A-levels. To accomodate student growth, a new campus (now known as the Wesley Methodist School, Sentul) was established in 1994 and Forms 1 - 5 were progressively moved over.
Methodist College Kuala Lumpur today focuses entirely on providing pre-university, diploma and certificate level courses such as AUSMAT (added in 2000), Certificate and Diploma in Early Childhood Education (since 2005) and Certificate in English and short courses in Business English (introduced in 2006).

- Applicants must be below the age of 25 years and have enrolled in a full time MCKL programme
- Actual results must be obtained no more than 2 years before commencement of the semester
- Applicants must meet any of the following minimum academic requirements:
- A-Level/AUSMAT: 5As in SPM & IGCSE
- Diploma: 2As in SPM & IGCSE
- ADTP:
- STPM (4 Subjects): CGPA 3.25
- A-Level: 3Bs
- AUSMAT: ATAR 75
- UEC: -18 points"
