IJN University College (IJNUC) marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s higher education landscape with its official upgrade to a University College on 13 May 2025. This historic transformation empowers the institution to offer fully homegrown degree, master’s, and PhD programmes—reflecting its readiness to shape the next generation of healthcare and managerial professionals.
IJNUC began its journey in 2007 as IJN Training Division, created to support the professional development of staff at Institut Jantung Negara (IJN)—the nation’s leading heart centre—and to share that expertise with the wider public. In 2008, it became IJN College, introducing its first flagship programme: the Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular & Thoracic Sciences (GCCVTS), laying the foundation for future specialization in cardiovascular care.
The institution continued to expand rapidly in response to evolving healthcare and industry needs. Key programmes were introduced, including the Advanced Diploma in Cardiac Nursing (2019), Diploma in Pharmacy and Diploma in Psychology (2020), followed by Diplomas in Occupational Safety & Health, Physiotherapy, and Healthcare Management (2021). By 2022, it further diversified into Business, Human Resource Management, and Emergency Medical Services, broadening its academic scope.
