Established in 1984, City University Malaysia was founded by a group of scholars with extensive global academic experience and a passion to empower the next generation. Originally known as Petaling Jaya Community College, the University has made significant advances over the years towards fulfilling its Vision of being a globally renowned industry-focused institution. As one of Malaysia’s earlier private higher education institutions, the University attained full university status in 2016 and now has more than 7,500 students with over 38,000 alumni.
Rated in the most recent Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education SETARA-2022 as Competitive, City University Malaysia has an outstanding record for academic quality. Aligned with its industry focus, the University was in year 2022 ranked 13th amongst ASEAN private universities for applied higher education. Our staff have an outstanding academic profile, with each faculty holding a doctorate within a relevant field, ensuring students are exposed to the latest knowledge within their studies.

- City University Malaysia, founded in 1984 as Petaling Jaya Community College (PJCC), was established to support national education and prepare students for transfer to American universities. It has since sent over 20 batches of students to more than 100 U.S. institutions, including Ivy League schools, in various fields. The university later expanded partnerships with universities in the UK, Australia, the U.S., and Asia to meet growing demand. With nearly 40 years of academic excellence, it achieved full university status in 2016 and is now known as City University Malaysia.
