Besides the fact that Australia is only an eight-hour plane ride away from Malaysia (with affordable fares!), many fantastic opportunities await students who are interested in furthering their studies in Australia, making it a popular destination.
However, you may or may not be aware that the country has the fastest rising living costs than the rest of the world. There are solutions to work around this—one of them is through taking up twinning courses, which you can read about here.
Another way is to consider applying for scholarships offered by Australian universities. Not all of these scholarships will cover 100% of your tuition fees, but they will make a huge impact in easing your financial constraints.
Take a look at a scenario below, which you could experience when you’re studying in Australia:
25% may not look impressive, but that’s AUD 9,875 knocked off your fee. In other words, you will save up to RM 31,600!
What does this mean? Besides reducing your tuition fee, you will also get to allocate more budget on other expenses. AUD 9,875 is equivalent to:
- Almost 50% of the average living cost for a student in Australia (AUD 20,000) a year
- 1 year worth of rental in Adelaide (the average renting price in the city per month is about AUD 800)
- You can afford up to six iPhone X! (Please don’t buy this many phones and concentrate on your studies)
Sounds feasible, doesn’t it? However, most of these scholarships require you to either hold an offer or apply for your course first, so it is important to start applying ahead of the upcoming July intake. Normally, it takes up to 4-6 weeks for applications and scholarships to be processed, so you should start applying your applications as early as April!
